Janet Kittell, 89, of Bloomfield, New Mexico, passed into our Savior’s arms on Sunday, December 8, 2024. She was born December 6, 1935, to Charlie and Florine Rogers near Texico, New Mexico. Janet graduated from Delores High School in 1953 and she received a BS in Home Economics and master’s in early childhood education. Janet was a talented master educator and taught numerous levels and subjects. She retired from the Bloomfield School District in 1998 with 34 years experience. She enjoyed being with family and friends and loved being in the mountains and hiking. Janet loved reading and she was a talented artist both on canvas and in sewing.
Janet was loved by many and will be missed forever. She was preceded in death by her husband Art Kittell, her parents Charlie and Florine Rogers, her sisters Joan Forest and Helen Pilcher, her brother Jim Rogers and son-in-law Dennis Gallegos. She is survived by her daughter Sherrie Gallegos of Bloomfield, her sons Arthur "Tracy" Kittell, III (Barbara) of Sisters, Oregon, and Lee Kittell (Yvette) of Edgewood, New Mexico. She also had 8 grandchildren, Amy Gallegos, Scott Gallegos, Clinton Gallegos, Jonathan Kittell, Benjamin Kittell, Callen Lovett, Chandra Williams, and Christine Kittell, 19 great grandchildren and 2 great-great granddaughters. Janet is also survived by 2 sisters, Cathy Shields and Sandy Rogers, and 2 brothers Chuck Rogers and Duane Pilcher, and many loved nieces and nephews.
Our family would like to invite you to join us in celebrating Janet’s life on December 19, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Bloomfield. We are asking in lieu of flowers to make a donation to the New Mexico Christian Children’s Home in Portales, New Mexico.
